2 Hosts For Jeopardy??
A new era of “Jeopardy!” is on the horizon, with executive producer Mike Richards and actress Mayim Bialik reportedly both set to host the long-running game show. Richards is slated to become the permanent host of the syndicated “Jeopardy!” broadcasts, while Bialik will lead special editions of the show, The Daily Beast reported Wednesday. Producers of the show have not made any announcement. Guest hosts have been filling in during the months since longtime “Jeopardy!” star Alex Trebek’s death last November. Under the new set up, Bialik would host spin-off editions and primetime “Jeopardy!” broadcasts. She is a four-time Emmy nominee for her portrayal of Amy Farrah Fowler on “The Big Bang Theory.” She also stars on the sitcom “Call Me Cat.” “Jeopardy!” has not previously employed multiple permanent hosts at the same time. Earlier this week, Richards addressed a recent report that he is considered the favorite to take over permanent hosting duties in a memo to “Jeopardy!” staff. “It is true that I was asked if I would consider hosting the show,” Richards wrote, according to Entertainment Weekly. “I was humbled and deeply honored. No final decisions have been made and discussions with me and other potential hosts are still ongoing.”

Idris Elba Cast In Sonic Sequel
Idris Elba has announced that he will be voicing Knuckles in upcoming sequel, Sonic the Hedgehog 2. “Knock, knock….,” Elba said on Twitter alongside an image of Knuckles’ signature spiked fist. “This should punch things up,” the official Twitter account for the Sonic the Hedgehog movie series said in response. Knuckles is a red echidna who is known for using his fists. The character made his first appearance in 1994’s Sonic the Hedgehog 3 for the Sega Genesis, becoming a franchise mainstay ever since. Sonic the Hedgehog 2 hits theaters on April 8, 2022. Ben Schwartz voices Sonic with Jim Carrey as the villainous Dr. Robotnik. James Marsden, Tika Sumpter, Natasha Rothwell and Lee Majdoub also starred in the first film, which hit theaters in February 2020.

Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck toured a large estate on Tuesday in the famed Beverly Hills neighborhood of Los Angeles and at an asking price touching $85 million, the purchase may just be a joint venture. The mansion located on a dead-end street spans some 38,000 square feet and features 12 bedrooms and 24 bathrooms while an indoor sports complex comes complete with a boxing ring, basketball court and swimming pool, just to name a few amenities. Video footage of the motorcade shows an extended-length Range Rover entering the premises while Affleck and Lopez follow behind in a Mercedes S-Class sedan. According to TMZ, after touring the property, the couple hopped over the hill to the San Fernando Valley where they walked another resort-style residence in Toluca Lake once owned by Bob Hope.

Rapper Cardi B doesn’t quite understand why so many celebrities have shared that they don’t bathe regularly, tweeting her confusion over the admissions. “Wassup with people saying they don’t shower? It’s giving itchy,” she tweeted after several stars admitted that daily showers just aren’t necessary in their household. Jake Gyllenhaal is the latest to admit he doesn’t find bathing regularly “necessary.” “More and more I find bathing to be less necessary, at times,” Gyllenhaal told Vanity Fair last week while promoting Prada’s Luna Rossa Ocean fragrance. Not all celebs are skipping the soap and water, however, as Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson waded into the discourse, insisting he showers multiple times a day.

After news broke on Tuesday that the “Friends” stars Jennifer Aniston and David Schwimmer were romantically linked in real life, Schwimmer’s rep denied the claims. The rep says “there are no truths to the rumors of a romance.” The rumors started after Aniston and Schwimmer reunited for the highly-anticipated “Friends” reunion special back in May. The co-stars, who played Rachel Green and Ross Geller, respectively, were a beloved on-screen couple but never took their romance into real life. They did admit during the HBO Max special that they had crushes on each other while filming the show. Schwimmer said he “had a major crush on Jen” while Aniston told host James Corden “it was reciprocated” during the show’s run from 1994 to 2004. “We were both crushing hard on each other, but it was like two ships passing,” Schwimmer added of his attraction to Aniston. “One of us was always in a relationship and we never crossed that boundary.” Aniston added, “I remember saying one time to David, ‘It’s going to be such a bummer if the first time you and I actually kiss is on national television. Instagram has apologized for removing the official poster for Spanish director Pedro Almodóvar’s new film from the social network because it showed a female nipple, after the poster’s designer complained of censorship. Instagram’s parent company Facebook says that several images of the poster for “Madres Paralelas,” which shows a lactating nipple, were removed “for breaking our rules against nudity” after they were uploaded on Monday. “We do, however, make exceptions to allow nudity in certain circumstances, which includes when there’s clear artistic context. We’ve therefore restored posts sharing the Almodóvar movie poster to Instagram, and we’re really sorry for any confusion caused,” the company said in an emailed statement. “Madres Paralelas,” starring Penélope Cruz, will open the Venice Film Festival on Sept. 1st.

Missing Dog Turns Up Miles Away
A Connecticut dog fled from her owners’ parents’ house and turned up 2 miles away — at the housing facility where her owner works. Joann Hourigan, executive director of the Deep River Housing Authority, said the dog, Indy, is well known by residents and workers at Kirtland Commons, the Deep River elderly/disabled housing facility where her owner works, so they quickly recognized the canine who showed up at the door Sunday. Hourigan contacted Indy’s owner, who revealed the dog had been left with her parents in Chester for the weekend while she attended a wedding in Virginia. “On Sunday morning [the owner’s] dad took Indy out, but forgot the leash, and went in to get it as they were going to go for a walk. He left Indy on the deck,” Hourigan told WFSB-TV. “Minutes later, he returned to find her gone.” Hourigan said Indy showed up at Kirtland Commons about 15 minutes later. The housing authority shared security camera footage of Indy’s arrival on Facebook.

The City of Kyle, Texas, is calling on people who share the municipality’s name to gather at an annual festival to set a Guinness World Record. The city said in a Facebook post that it is trying to gather as many Kyles as possible to set a Guinness record at its annual Kyle Pie in the Sky Hot Air Balloon Festival Sept. 3-5. “The City of Kyle is attempting to break the Guinness World Record for gathering the most Kyles — spelled that way — in one place at the annual Kyle Pie in the Sky Hot Air Balloon Festival on Labor Day weekend at Lake Kyle,” the post said. The city said all Kyles participating in the record will receive free weekend passes to the festival, as well as a free T-shirt. See the post HERE.

Record For Running On All Fours
A Canadian woman unofficially set a Guinness World Record when she completed a 100-meter run in 22.99 seconds — while running on all fours. Julie McCann, 38, of Vernon, British Columbia, ran on her hands and feet at the Greater Vernon Athletics Park on Monday and finished well under the 25-second goal mandated by Guinness World Records. McCann, who has been running on all fours since she was 3 years old, said she was inspired to pick up her hobby again and attempt to set the world record in the women’s category after reading about Kenichi Ito of Japan, who set the men’s version of the record at 15.71 seconds in November 2015. “I just gave birth to my third child, my little girl, and I thought this would give me the motivation to get into being active again. More than anything else, I want to prove to myself that I can do it. I could do it in my 20s but could I still do it in my 30s?” McCann told the Vernon Morning Star.

An Illinois couple’s pet pig has been dubbed the oldest pig in captivity ever by Guinness World Records at age 23. Patrick Cunningham and Stan Coffman, of Mundelein, said their pig, Baby Jane, was only 8 weeks old when they brought her home from a Virginia rescue, and she has now been declared the oldest pig in captivity ever by Guinness after her age was verified at 23 years, 77 days. Baby Jane lives inside the house with the couple; their sons Justin, 12, and Marchese, 11; and another pot-bellied pig named Lucy. “Lucy was added to the mix in 2004. It took Baby Jane a long, long time to warm up to another female pig. At least for the last few years, they seem to want to be around each other all the time,” Cunningham told Guinness. The couple said Baby Jane only goes outside for supervised playtime and bathroom breaks and spends the rest of her time indoors with the family.

Reframe assertiveness
The first step is to reframe your understanding of assertiveness. “It does not mean a full-on conflict. It is just a negotiation. It’s for the benefit of everyone, not to the detriment of. You can be assertive, but also stay polite and humble,” she says. Focus on the value you want to bring to the company, she adds. If you aren’t assertive, your work might become low quality. “You’ll be exhausted, tired, unhappy, and not a pleasure to work with.”
Work on your communication
“Communicate in a positive and constructive way,” she says. “Pay attention to how you deliver your point. Saying no does not mean you have to sound rude in any conversation. There is a difference (and a fine line) between setting a boundary and being unhelpful and unempathetic when your team is in need.”
Talk through your priorities
Your manager is there to help you balance your workload so that what you work on helps the company or organization achieve its goals. So talk to them more.
“This will show you can see the team and an organization holistically,” says Blazinska. “Understand what needs to be done to make the biggest impact possible. Then focus on the assignment which will deliver exactly that while being assertive about not taking on more.”
Find a role model
This can be someone who you admire and who is as assertive as you’d like to be. “Ask them how they think about assertiveness and how they do it,” Blazinska. Then practice: ease into it so you can find a way to be assertive that suits you and feels authentic to your personality.”
Find the right balance
The aim is to be supportive and helpful, while staying productive. “Remain a team player. But also be realistic about how much you take on,” she says. “Track your own productivity, optimize your performance and take note of consequences when you take on too much. Understand how you can bring the max value to your team and organization you work for.’
Lastly, if you’re a people pleaser, it’s worth trying to understand the root cause of your behavior. People-pleasing can easily affect different areas of your life. Understand your own priorities and work to put your own wellbeing first. It will only benefit your relationships with others.
