Flip Or Flop Star Engaged
Flip or Flop star Christina Haack announced her engagement to her boyfriend, Joshua Hall, Monday during their vacation in Mexico. Haack shared a slideshow of photos on Instagram from her and Hall’s candlelit dinner on the beach. In one photo, Haack’s engagement ring can be seen as she and Hall pose for a selfie. Haack captioned the post with a heart, lock and key, and diamond ring emojis. Haack also showed off her engagement ring on Instagram Stories, tagging jeweler Benny Hayoun in the caption. “Thank you @bennyandthegems – great friend and best jeweler,” she wrote. Haack later posted a photo of the resort with a full moon overhead and referred to Hall as her fiancé. “Full moon vibin’ with my fiancé,” she wrote. Haack and Hall are in Cabo San Lucas to celebrate Hall’s birthday. Haack marked the occasion Sunday by posting a tribute to Hall on Instagram. “Happy birthday baby. You give me that teenage kinda love vibe and manly protection. It’s a combo for a lifetime of happiness + success. Daniel Craig’s Thoughts On Female James Bond
Daniel Craig said that he doesn’t think there should be a female James Bond iteration, but hopes instead to see a woman lead her own, similar franchise. He is about to debut in his final run as the legendary spy in the upcoming film “No Time To Die,” and now he’s thinking about the future of the franchise and where it will go in his absence. For years, there have been calls to see a woman take on the lead of the franchise and the 53-year-old actor shared his unfavorable thoughts on the idea. “Why should a woman play James Bond when there should be a part just as good as James Bond, but for a woman?” he told Radio Times in a recent interview. His echo those made by producer Barbara Broccoli in an interview with Variety from last year. In response to a question about whether or not a person of color could play Bond, she noted that was certainly possible. However, changing the character’s sex might be more difficult. “He can be of any color, but he is male,” Broccoli explained. “I believe we should be creating new characters for women — strong female characters. I’m not particularly interested in taking a male character and having a woman play it. I think women are far more interesting than that.” Many fans of the franchise note that, although multiple actors have played the character, he is considered a single entity across the franchise with his own, albeit vague, history. As a result, James Bond is canonically male. However, while the James Bond character must be a male in the eyes of many, the 007 moniker is up for grabs.
********How about Bond BECOMING a woman??? That’s where “Q” could really shine!!! “Look Bond, we’ve made an exploding vagina!!”

Burt Reynolds Statue Unveiled
A bronze bust of Burt Reynolds was unveiled on Monday at his gravesite, complete with a mustache and his “Smokey and the Bandit” cowboy hat. “Anybody else want to touch him?” Loni Anderson, Reynolds’ wife from 1988 to 1994, asked the small crowd that gathered around the sculpture after the unveiling at Hollywood Forever Cemetery in Los Angeles. “Yes, he’s made to be touched!” said Caroline P.M. Jones, the artist who made it. Anderson and her son with Reynolds, Quinton, chose the spot where Reynolds’ cremated remains were laid to rest in February, because it was next to a palm tree and water, which evoked his native Florida. A simple plaque with his name marked the spot. But Hollywood Forever co-owner Tyler Cassity told them that the many visitors to his grave would appreciate more of a monument, something to look at, to touch, to take photos with. So the bust was commissioned. “It’s absolutely beautiful, it’s exactly what we both envisioned,” Quinton Reynolds told The Associated Press after a brief private ceremony where a crowd of several dozen people who were close to Reynolds gathered to mark the occasion.
********When Loni dies, they’ll make a bust… of her bust!!!
Fire Breaks Out At Will and Jada’s Home
Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith are doing “fine” after fire trucks and an ambulance were called to their $42 million home in Calabasas, Calif., for a blaze on Monday afternoon. “They are all fine and in the home. A fire broke out in the basement, and a fireman was treated, but everyone is fine,” a source close to the family says. A witness previous told us that a fire “broke out somewhere on one of the properties” of the superstar couple’s sprawling estate and that “someone was treated at the scene” but not hospitalized. Video footage captured an ambulance entering the area at approximately 3:30 p.m. Sources confirmed it was the basement that caught on fire, a fireman was treated and Will and Jada were there when it happened. “There were a lot of fire trucks and police, so it caught everyone’s attention, but they’re all fine,” the source said. Architectural Digest featured the home in 2011 before the Smiths put it on the market for $42 million in 2013. The actors ended up keeping it, and Pinkett Smith shoots her popular “Red Table Talk” show — which she hosts with daughter Willow Smith and mom Adrienne “Gammy” Banfield-Norris — inside the mansion.

Harry and Meghan Planning NYC Trip
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are making their first-ever trip to New York City together. They are due to arrive this week ahead of their appearance at Global Citizen Live on Saturday. It will be their first public trip since moving to California, and they will be in Central Park for the event that will be broadcast live. It’s not believed that they are bringing their 2-year-old son, Archie, or his 3-month-old sister, Lilibet, for the whirlwind trip. Instead, the kids are expected to stay at home in Montecito, Calif. The last time that Harry was in New York was in 2013, when he joined Chris Christie after Hurricane Sandy devastated the tristate area. The last time that Markle was in New York was for her heavily publicized, $500,000 baby shower in February 2019, held in the penthouse at the Mark Hotel. She flew in from London on Amal Clooney’s private jet for that trip. Months later, she visited the state again to support her close friend Serena Williams in the US Open final.

Tongues are wagging that the 34-year-old reality queen’s now dancing to a new beat, dating country crooner Chase Rice, 36. Conveniently, both the “Very Cavallari/The Hills” alum and “Ride” singer have homes in Nashville, so….it could work! Meanwhile Jay, who got kicked to the curb amid swirling rumors of infidelity, grouses that single life isn’t all it’s cracked up to be. “Meeting people is hard,” admits the former football star, who shares three kids with his ex-wife: Camden, 9, Jaxon, 7, and Saylor, 5. “I think finding out what people really want from you; I think that’s probably an issue.” That must be it!

Missing Dog Turns Up On Facebook
A 15-year-old dog that went missing from his owner’s Florida home was reunited with the woman nearly a year later when she spotted his photo on an animal rescue’s social media page. Lisa Raulerson said she was living in a West Palm Beach cottage in October 2020 when her 15-year-old dog, Sparky, escaped through a gate that mistakenly had been left open. “Before we noticed it, he was gone,” Raulerson told WPTV. She said the family began to fear after a couple weeks that Sparky no longer was alive. “We pretty much figured he passed away,” Raulerson said. “It was sad because he was part of us and we talked about him every day.” Raulerson said there was no sign of her longtime pet until she recently spotted a familiar canine on Sunshine State Westie Rescue’s Facebook page. The rescue said Sparky had been brought to a shelter as a stray and the rescue had stepped in to prevent the dog from being euthanized. Officials said Sparky had a microchip, but the chip was not registered, so they couldn’t get information about his owner.
*********At first we thought the dog had his own Facebook page!! Which would be rad!!!

Expensive Beer
The latest beer from Boston brewer Samuel Adams bears a piece tag of $240 per bottle and bears another notable distinction: it’s illegal in 15 states. Samuel Adams said the 12th version of the Utopias brand, which the brewery rolls out every two years, will roll out Oct. 11 at a price of $240 for 25.4-ounce bottle. The beverage contains 28% alcohol by volume, more than five times the average strength of U.S. beers, making it illegal to sell in Alabama, Arkansas, Georgia, Idaho, Missouri, Mississippi, Montana, North Carolina, New Hampshire, Oklahoma, Oregon, South Carolina, Utah, Vermont and West Virginia. “We pioneered the barrel-aging and blending process of Utopias almost thirty years ago and continue that time-honored tradition today,” Jim Koch, founder and brewer of Samuel Adams, said in a news release. “Since the introduction of Utopias in 2002, brewers have explored uncharted territory with each brew, experimenting with different kinds of aging barrels, new flavors, and different blending techniques. The result is always special, spirited, and worth waiting for,” he said.

Sheep Lead High Speed Chase
A pair of sheep got loose from their pen in Texas and led animal care officers on a foot chase that at one point ended up on a busy highway. The city of San Antonio Animal Care Services said in a Facebook post that officers responded multiple calls Sunday about two loose sheep grazing in a field next to the Texas 151 highway. The post said the sheep became “spooked” when the officers approached them and fled toward an access road. The officers were able to form “human walls” to guide the sheep away from the road, but the animals hopped over a nearby retaining wall and ended up on the highway. The San Antonio Police Department blocked westbound traffic on the highway to allow the animal care officers to guide the sheep out of the roadway. “After a little more coaxing, our would be shepherds corralled the sheep in our fenced courtyard,” animal services said. See the pics HERE.
********That could have been a “baaad” situation!!!

Hand Operated Windshield Wipers
A Florida man was seen in a viral video using his hand to operate his windshield wipers during a rainstorm. But now the driver that shot that popular clip wants to wipe the slate clean after he first viewed the incident as a joke. Now he’s hoping to find the driver and raise money through a GoFundMe page to support fixing the car, according to local reports. The video, viewed thousands of times on social media, shows a man dangerously operating his windshield wipers manually with his left arm extended out of the window during a torrential downpour so he could see the road while driving. Brad Allison, who filmed the strange interaction, said he at first “thought it was really funny and then, I also thought it was sad,” he told ABC 7. “I’ve been stuck with no wipers and had to use RainX and I mean, I know how that is and I give him credit for trying to get to where he had to go. But I’d like to see him get there a little safer,” he told the outlet. In response, Allison is asking for the public’s help in identifying the driver to help upgrade his ride, and has even started a GoFundMe page to fund the repairs. “Perfect world, I’d like to see him get into a new car,” Allison said. “At least get some wipers put on his car and a new headlight.” “It’s funny how you can look at things in two different ways and go from wow that’s hilarious to wow, maybe he needs a hand,” Allison said.

Mindless Habits That Are Secretly Exhausting You
HUFFINGTON POST
Watching emotionally charged television shows
One of the ways binge-watching emotionally charged TV shows can lead to mental exhaustion is through trait identification, which refers to the process of temporarily imagining yourself experiencing the same feelings and events of a specific character.
“The experience allows individuals to perceive the world differently and acquire and gain access to various emotional capacities they were formerly unable to experience,” said Leela R. Magavi, a psychiatrist and regional medical director for Community Psychiatry and MindPath Care Centers in California.
In excess, however, sustained high-intensity emotions can result in a state of heightened arousal and overstimulation. “It then takes additional mental effort to dampen these signals with emotional regulation strategies,” Lippe said.
This is the case for both positive and negative emotions, he added, as they activate similar pathways in the brain, ultimately leading to mental fatigue, difficulty focusing and poor energy levels.
Waiting too long between meals
The body scores energy from the foods we eat, and relies on a steady supply of it. “Each macronutrient — protein, carbs and fat — provides energy, but carbs are the body’s primary and preferred fuel source,” Caroline Lacey, registered dietitian and owner of Nutrition Rerooted, told HuffPost.
Some parts of the body, such as the brain, can only use carbs (in the form of glucose) for energy. “The body can store some carbs in the liver for later use, which acts as an energy reserve for the body to use when blood sugar levels are low, such as between meals,” Lacey said. “But there’s a limit to the amount that can be stored, and eventually, the supply becomes depleted.”
This backup energy supply only lasts about three to six hours, so going too long without food sets off biological and psychological mechanisms that turn on our eating drive — usually, this can lead to strong cravings for processed carbs, which are foods with a high-glycemic load.
“As we eat more carbs, especially simple ones, our insulin levels climb,” Uma Naidoo, nutritional psychologist and author of “This Is Your Brain on Food,” told HuffPost. “Once our insulin levels peak after eating, our blood sugar can subsequently crash and lead to a distinct feeling of being physically drained.”
Working at a messy desk
Working in a cluttered environment may increase distractibility and inattentiveness. The result? Tasks take longer to complete, requiring you to use up more mental focus and energy over time.
Planning too far in advance
Planning is helpful up to a point. “By scheduling in advance, you ensure you’re allocating time to a task without forgetting or double-booking yourself,” Lippe said. “But if done in excess, it can leave you with too little flexibility and force you to live in the future instead of the present.”
Being constantly exposed to a full calendar of obligations can cause an uptick in anticipatory anxiety and adversely affect working memory and processing speed.
“This can impede your ability to remain mindful and efficiently complete tasks in the moment,” Magavi said, resulting in poor motivation and mental exhaustion.
Having too many tabs open
Not only are you overwhelming your laptop’s battery by having 25 tabs open, you’re putting your brain into overdrive too.
“Bouncing from tab to tab gives your ego the misconception you’re getting an incredible amount of work done,” said Rana Mafee, chief neurologist at Case Integrative Health in Chicago. “In reality, you’re not fully processing anything you’re trying to efficiently consume.” Cue mental fatigue.
Taking calls right away
“Phone calls can be exhausting,” Mafee said. “Your nervous system has to not only process a task change at the flip of a switch, but try to process the conversation you’re having without facial cues and body language, forcing your brain to work overtime.”
To top it off, once the call is finished, it can take you over 20 minutes to fully regain your focus.
Leaving off in the wrong spot
Thanks to things like time constraints and incessant interruptions, it’s not uncommon to find yourself setting aside half-completed tasks in order to deal with something urgent that’s come up or has to take priority.
A small piece of your attention is left with the unfinished task, known as attention residue.
“When you experience attention residue, your brain is working overtime by thinking about the task you’re now on, as well as ruminating about the previous task you had to leave unfinished,” Mafee said.
The more often this happens, the harder your brain has to work to stay focused, chipping away at your energy reserves in the process.
Slouching
“Poor posture can deplete your energy levels by putting more pressure on your body’s muscles, joints and ligaments,” said Naueen Safdar, medical director at EHE Health. “Your body has to use more energy to compensate, leading to fatigue.”
Taking shallow breaths
Even though breathing is thought of as an unconscious activity, we tend to breathe incorrectly when we have a lot on our mind.
“Shallow breathing reduces the amount of oxygen the body takes in and the amount that can be transported in the blood to our organs and cells for optimal function,” Naidoo said. (It can also trigger pathways in the brain that exacerbate anxiety and trigger fatigue, Magavi said.)
Letting little tasks pile up
Texting someone back. Changing a lightbulb. Booking your pet’s wellness visit. The cumulative mental load of unintentionally stockpiling tiny tasks like these can be distracting and mentally draining.
“Even manageable duties start to feel overwhelming and suffocating due to their sheer number,” Lippe said. “The constant and unsolicited ‘I should do task X’ thoughts also creates a sense of shame and buildup of anticipatory anxiety.”
Not dimming the lights at night
Exposure to bright lights at night signals it’s still daytime to the brain. “This inhibits the brain’s release of melatonin, a sleep-promoting hormone,” Lippe said. “This can disturb the sleep-wake cycle and lead to insomnia, poor sleep quality and fatigue.”
Not tweaking advice to suit your personality or lifestyle
Using another person’s advice can help provide a framework to build on, but if you don’t personalize recommendations, you run the risk of falling short of your goals.
“This wastes time as well as energy, and can cause energy-sapping emotions such as frustration, disappointment and resentment,” Lippe said.
