Bridgerton Breaks Another Record

Bridgerton has broken another Netflix viewing record.  The streaming service said Tuesday that Season 2 set a new single-week record for its most-viewed English-language TV series.  Season 2 had 251.7 million hours viewed in its first week of release. The season surpassed the miniseries Inventing Anna, which held the previous record with 196 million hours viewed.  Bridgerton Season 1 was the No. 2 English-language title on the Netflix Top 10 last week, followed by the competition series Is It Cake? at No. 3.  South Korean series Squid Game holds the record of any series for the most hours watched in one week on Netflix, with 571.7 million hours watched between Sept. 27 and Oct. 3.

Grammy Award Ratings

It looks like the Grammy Awards barely moved the TV ratings.  The show reached just under 9.6 million viewers on Sunday, the Nielsen company said. That’s a 4% increase over 2021’s broadcast, a more intimate affair because of the pandemic, and the smallest-ever audience for the Grammys by a wide margin.  Any year-to-year viewership increase is usually a cause for celebration in today’s television world. But that has to be considered a disappointing showing when you consider the previous week’s Academy Awards increased its audience by 58% over 2021.  Jon Batiste was the biggest winner at the Grammys on CBS, which featured performances by Billie Eilish, Olivia Rodrigo, BTS, Chris Stapleton, Justin Bieber and others.  “Don’t even think of it as an awards show,” host Trevor Noah said at one point. “Think of it as a concert where we’re giving out awards.”
*********Look at that lineup!! Now you know why the audience was so small!!
*******The biggest concert tours right now are Paul McCartney and Elton John. What does that tell you??
********We’d never even heard of John Batiste!! You??

Coachella Announces Kanye’s Replacement

Coachella has found their newest headliner after Kanye West dropped out last minute.  They released a new poster on Instagram Wednesday morning that lists The Weeknd and Swedish House Mafia as the performers taking over West’s slot.  Billie Eilish and Harry Styles, who are also headlining, remain as the performers for the two Friday and Saturday dates, respectively.  Swedish House Mafia was always supposed to be a special guest since they were listed in the original poster for the festival as “returning to the desert.” However, the EDM supergroup, consisting of Axwell, Steve Angello and Sebastian Ingrosso, were bumped up to co-headliners as a result of West’s departure.  Coachella captioned their new graphic Wednesday, “The Party & The After Party.”

Courteney Cox Tries The “Friends” Instagram Filter

Courteney Cox attempted to use the viral “FriendsInstagram filter over the weekend — but things didn’t quite go as planned.  She posted a video to showing the filter as it cycled through all six cast members’ faces while she tested the authenticity of each, reported People.  She started out with the face of David Schwimmer, who played Ross Gellar, but she is unable to see the semblance.  “Really? I don’t look anything like Schwimmer,” Cox said, attempting to mimic Schwimmer’s nerdy voice.  Next up on the rotation was Joey Tribbiani who was portrayed by Matt LeBlanc.  “Joey. Hi! How you doin’?” Cox said.  “Oh, looks good with an earring. Or two.”  After that, the video rolled farther downhill.  The third face absolutely stumped the actress, making her question the authenticity of the filter.  “Who is that? Is that Monica? Not sure. Rachel? I don’t know,” she said. “This is one of the worst apps I’ve ever seen, but OK.”  Cox was able to identify her own face relatively easy; however, she seriously doubted her confidence once she noticed the eyebrows on the app.  “Is that me? Okay, I think my eyebrows are a little different … Rachel? I don’t buy it,” she proclaimed. See the video HERE.
*********Our favorite filter is the “plastic surgery filter” she uses right before turning on the app!!

Billy Crystal Speaks On Oscar Slap

Billy Crystal called Will Smith slapping Chris Rock at the 94th Academy Awards “an assault.”  He spoke about it during an appearance on “Back on the Record” with Bob Costas on HBO Max. Smith slapped Rock in the face on stage after the comedian made a joke about Jada Pinkett Smith’s bald head.  “It was a most disturbing incident, for sure,” Crystal told Costas. “It was an assault. I’ve had experiences. I hosted the Grammys three times and I’ve been thrown things.”  “In [Oscars] pre-production, the amazing Gil Cates, we would go through – he was the producer for six of the nine that I did – we would go through the rundown and I’d say, ‘Maybe I should be there because something might happen there. If that person wins, I should follow that.'” Crystal explained why it’s important to have a good host of the award shows.  “I sort of set myself up to host the show, really host the show, so you can tie it together. So, whenever I see shows that it’s a no-host show, yeah, it went faster, but there’s nobody there to capitalize on anything and give the audience the feeling of there’s somebody in charge.”  Crystal went on to give an example of the time he had to handle a tricky situation while hosting the Grammys at Radio City Music Hall.   Comedian Jackie Mason took the stage and made an inflammatory comment, according to Crystal. Little Richard followed and made more inflammatory comments, which led to the producer of the awards show sending Crystal out to smooth things over.
********Remember “Fire Marshall Bill” on In Living Color?? (Jim Carrey) He used to make “inflammatory remarks” all the time!!
*******A real host would have gone into the audience and started rubbing Jada’s head!!
*******Biden has offered to send Will Smith to the front lines in Ukraine!!! And cancel his birthday!!

Mystery Odor In Oklahoma

Officials in an Oklahoma city said they are investigating a mystery odor described as “sewer-like” that was confirmed to not be coming from the city’s sewage treatment plant.  The city of Glenpool said in a Facebook post that officials are “aware of a sewer-like smell in some parts” of the city, but investigators have yet to determine the source of the odor.  The city said the Oklahoma Department of Environmental Quality recently inspected the city’s sewer plant and determined the facility is not responsible for the foul smell.  “We’re actively investigating the issue to determine what is causing the smell,” the post said. “If you’ve witnessed anything unusual that you think might be a contributing factor, please contact us.”

Fox Attack On Capitol Hill

Capitol Hill has a fox problem. Rep. Ami Bera, D-Calif., learned firsthand Monday evening while walking to the Capitol for votes. Now he’s undergoing a series of four rabies shots out of an abundance of caution.  Bera said he felt something lunge at him from behind as he walked near one of the Senate office buildings. He turned and used his umbrella to fend off what he thought would be a small dog, but he soon realized he was tangling with a fox.  Bera said the encounter lasted about 15 seconds. A bystander yelled to alert others and the fox fled as U.S. Capitol Police officers ran up on the scene. A medical doctor, Bera looked for puncture wounds. He didn’t see evidence of any, but there was some abrasion, so he consulted the Capitol physician, who told him not to take any chances and to get treated.  The warning noted that there are possibly several fox dens on the Capitol grounds and that animal control personnel would be seeking to trap and locate any that they find.

THE PENNY HOARDER

  1. Invest in Famous Art (Even if You’re Not a Millionaire)

Here’s the deal: If you’re not investing in contemporary art, you might be missing out on an asset whose prices have historically outpaced the S&P by 164% from 1995 – 2020. (FYI, the S&P tracks 500 of the largest companies in the stock market)  You’re probably thinking you need at least a few more zeros in your checking account before you can even start thinking about investing in Warhols and Monets, right?

But a company called Masterworks lets normal people like us invest in multimillion-dollar works of art — something normally only available to the super rich.  But you don’t need hundreds of thousands of dollars to buy a masterpiece outright; with Masterworks, you can buy shares representing an investment in art..

It takes less than a minute to sign up for a free account.

Investing in contemporary art is a long-term strategy, so patience pays off here — literally. But once your piece of art sells, you get your share of the potential profits.

  1. Use This Secret Banking Account

Enter your email address here, and link your bank account to see how much extra cash you can get with your free Aspiration account. And don’t worry. Your money is FDIC insured and under a military-grade encryption.

  1. You Can Cancel Your Car Insurance

Did you know you can save some serious money just by switching car insurance companies?

All you need to do is look for it.  But don’t waste your time hopping around to different insurance companies. 1. You Can Quickly Add up to 300 Points to Your Credit Score

When it comes to your credit score, it’s important to stay organized and keep tabs on it. After all, it’ll play an essential role in any big purchase you want to make — whether that’s a home or a car.

So if you’re looking to get your credit score back on track — or even if it is on track and you want to bump it up — try using a free website called Credit Sesame.  Within two minutes, you’ll get access to your credit score, any debt-carrying accounts and a handful of personalized tips to improve your score. You’ll even be able to spot any errors holding you back (one in five reports have one).

  1. You Can Stop Paying Your Credit Card Company

If you have credit card debt, you know. The anxiety, the interest rates, the fear you’re never going to escape…

And the truth is, your credit card company doesn’t really care. It’s just getting rich by ripping you off with high interest rates — some up to 36%. But a website called Fiona could help you pay off that bill as soon as tomorrow.

Here’s how it works: Fiona can match you with a low-interest loan you can use to pay off every credit card balance you have. The benefit? You’re left with just one bill to pay every month, and because the interest rate is so much lower, you can get out of debt so much faster. Plus, no credit card payment this month.  Fiona can help you borrow up to $250,000 (no collateral needed) with fixed rates starting at 2.49%.

Fiona won’t make you stand in line or call a bank. And if you’re worried you won’t qualify, it’s free to check online. It takes just two minutes, and it could save you thousands of dollars. Totally worth it.

All that credit card debt — and the anxiety that comes with it — could be gone by tomorrow.
