DMX Memorial Will Be Live Streamed
DMX fans will get one last chance to honor the late rapper at a public memorial service Saturday. Earl Simmons, died at age 50 earlier this month after suffering a heart attack. He was placed in the critical care unit in New York’s White Plains Hospital, where a source claimed he was in a “vegetative state.” Following the musicians’ death, a public event is set to be held at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center on Saturday, April 24 ahead of a private funeral at a New York City church scheduled to take place the following day, according to Entertainment Tonight. Although it is considered a public event, it was announced on the rapper’s Instagram that health restrictions in New York will prevent anyone except close friends and family from physically attending the memorial. However, it will be streamed live on DMX’s YouTube channel at 4 p.m. ET. Then on Sunday at 2:30 p.m., BET will broadcast a homegoing celebration live on its YouTube channel.

Aaron Rodgers Draws Big Ratings
Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers was a guest host on “Jeopardy!” this month as the show goes through rotating hosts following the death of Alex Trebek, who died in November. During Rodgers’ first week as guest host, ratings for the game show spiked 14% from the previous week, according to TV broadcasting site TVNewsCheck. Rodgers helmed the game show to a first-place finish on the syndication chart for the period ending April 11, with a 5.6 live-plus-same-day national Nielsen rating. That placed the show ahead of “Family Feud” (5.2 share), and “Wheel of Fortune” (5.1 share). It was the best performance by “Jeopardy!” in a month, according to TVNewsCheck, The three-time NFL MVP started his stint as the quiz show’s guest host on April 5. The bump in ratings came after Rodgers took over for Dr. Mehmet Oz, who hosted the show over the previous two weeks. Ratings will likely be a factor in determining who gets the permanent hosting gig. Rodgers previously said he would absolutely take the job if it was offered to him.

Archie Called The Queen For Her Birthday
Meghan Markle may not have attended Prince Philip’s funeral, but she wasn’t distant from the royal family, according to a new report. She is currently pregnant and was advised by doctors not to travel to the funeral of Queen Elizabeth II’s husband earlier this month. Markle’s husband and Philip’s grandson, Prince Harry, did make the journey, however. Markle sent a handwritten note alongside a wreath to the family for the funeral, but a new source has indicated that she and her own son, Archie, took things one step further. “Meghan spoke with Harry before his grandfather’s funeral,” the source told People magazine. “Meghan and Archie also spoke with the Queen earlier this week. “The Queen understands why she can’t travel at the moment,” the source added at the time. The Queen has four children of her own: Charles, Anne, Andrew and Edward. Markle also watched the funeral on television from the home she shares with Harry in Montecito, Calif. A source recently told said that Markle and Harry were “in touch every day” while he was visiting the U.K. for the funeral. “She knows the trip to England has been difficult for Harry. He didn’t want to leave Meghan and Archie alone,” they said. “Meghan has insisted to him every day though that they are fine. She hasn’t wanted him to worry.”

Things Are Calmer Around The Castle
The inner workings of Buckingham Palace are a “lot calmer” since Meghan Markle and Prince Harry stepped down as working royals last year, a source has claimed to the UK’s Mirror. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, who currently reside in California after resigning from royal duties in February, caused too much trouble with their demands to do things their own way, the Mirror reported. “One of the main issues with Harry and Meghan when they were part of the working family was their inability to understand how things worked,” the source told the Mirror. “It’s been a lot simpler without them kicking off over why they couldn’t just do what they wanted. Things are a lot calmer.” Prince Charles is said to be the brain trust who is sorting out how future royal duties will be handled now that the family is down three major members. He is carrying out this process with support from fellow senior royals, including Camilla Parker Bowles, Prince William and wife Kate Middleton, Princess Anne, and Prince Edward and wife Sophie, who has been dubbed the family’s “secret weapon.”

Turtle Crashes Through Windshield
A turtle crashed through the windshield of a car on a Florida highway and struck a 71-year-old woman in the head — but both the woman and the reptile are expected to be OK. The Port Orange Police Department said a woman called 911 on Wednesday to report she had been driving on Interstate 95 when an object crashed through her windshield and struck her passenger, her 71-year-old mother, in the head. A driver who stopped to help during the 911 call identified the object that came through the glass as a turtle. The 911 caller’s mother was taken to Halifax Health Medical Center in Daytona Beach, where doctors determined a cut above her eye was not a serious injury. She is expected to make a full recovery. Officer Andre Fleming, a police spokesman, said firefighters discovered the turtle was alive and apparently free of serious injuries, suffering only scratch marks to its shell. Fleming said firefighters released the turtle into the nearby woods.

Dog Goes For Joyride
Firefighters in Canada came to the rescue of a dog who knocked their owner’s vehicle out of park and took an accidental joyride. The Edmonton Fire Rescue Service in Alberta said a crew was summoned about 12:30 p.m. Tuesday when witnesses reported a dog was alone inside a vehicle that was rolling down Guardian Road. EFRS personnel said the dog had been left alone in the car. “It appears that the dog had popped the vehicle into neutral causing it to move,” EFRS spokeswoman Brittany Lewchuk told CTV News. The dog was successfully rescued from the slow-moving vehicle. “The dog was rescued and there are no reported injuries to the dog or citizens,” Lewchuk said.

Guys Bowls Perfect Game With Dad’s Ashes
An Illinois man paid tribute to his deceased father by bowling a perfect 300 game using a ball that contained some of his dad’s ashes. John Hinkle, a two-time NCAA bowling champion for Western Illinois University, said his father, John Hinkle Sr., introduced him and his brother, Joe, to the sport of bowling when they were very young. Hinkle said his two-handed bowling technique means he is only allowed two finger holes in his ball, so he had the thumb hole on his ball filled with some of his father’s ashes after the older Hinkle died in 2016. “I was talking to my brother and told him, ‘I’m shooting a 300 with this ball,” Hinkle told WMBD-TV. “And Joe said, ‘Do it!'” Hinkle’s prediction came true April 12, when he rolled a perfect game at Landmark Lanes in Peoria. “I had tears in my eyes in the 11th and 12th frames. I couldn’t tell you where that last ball went, I had so many tears just throwing it,” Hinkle said. See the video HERE.

Bear Chases Down Jogger
A jogger in Wyoming’s Grand Teton National Park captured video when he caught the attention of a bear that followed him down the trail.\ Evan Matthews wrote in a YouTube post that he was taking a “casual run” in the park an was about a half mile from his car when he noticed a bear was following him. Matthews captured video showing the bear following him as he walked on the trail. He said he decided to walk instead of run to keep the bear from confusing him for prey. “I don’t care if you’re hungry. I’m not your food,” Matthews tells the bear in the footage. Matthews said he wanted to make it clear to the bear that he wasn’t one of the predator’s usual targets. “I kept talking to it to show that I was a human and not to be mistaken for another animal,” Matthews wrote. - What is Dogecoin?
Dogecoin is a cryptocurrency created by software engineers Billy Markus and Jackson Palmer in 2013. A cryptocurrency is a virtual form of money that you can also buy and sell as an investment. Like other cryptocurrencies, it runs on blockchain technology, which is basically a giant public record of transactions.
Markus and Palmer created Dogecoin as a joke, combining the Bitcoin craze with the then-popular Doge meme featuring a Shiba Inu dog. Both ended their involvement with Dogecoin in 2015. In fact, Markus recently wrote on Reddit that he sold his coins for about enough to buy a used Honda Civic.
- Why am I suddenly hearing about it?
Dogecoin’s prices have rallied in 2021 for several reasons, including Reddit user activity, surging cryptocurrency prices and tweets from celebrities, particularly Tesla CEO Elon Musk. In February, after Musk tweeted “Doge” and “Dogecoin is the people’s crypto,” the price surged by 50%. On April 1, Musk tweeted — in what many believe was an April Fools’ Day joke — that his SpaceX company “is going to put a literal Dogecoin on the literal moon.”
Brands like Slim Jim, Snickers and Milky Way have jumped on the bandwagon with Dogecoin-related tweets.

- What’s the point of #DogeDay?
Dogecoin enthusiasts are hoping to push the price of coins over $1. For most of the cryptocurrency’s history, they’ve been worth about half a cent. As of April 20, Dogecoins were trading for about 37 cents, down from last week’s high of 41 cents. The 4/20 date is, of course, celebrated by marijuana lovers and is said to be Elon Musk’s favorite holiday.
- Is there a limit on the supply of Dogecoins?
No. That’s an important distinction between Dogecoin and Bitcoin. Bitcoin’s creators capped the amount of coins that can be mined at 21 million. Proponents of Bitcoin argue that the limited supply makes the cryptocurrency an effective store of value.
But no such limit exists with Dogecoin. As with Bitcoin, new coins are unlocked through a process called mining by solving complex mathematical problems with computers. But Dogecoin is much easier to mine compared to Bitcoin. Millions of Dogecoins are mined every day. Currently, more than 129 billion Dogecoins are in circulation.
- What can I buy with Dogecoin?
Not much. Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban announced in March that the team would accept the cryptocurrency as a form of payment. Reportedly, the Mavericks have generated $122,000 worth of merchandise revenue through Dogecoin sales. Latvian airline airBaltic, electronics retailer Newegg, and luxury resort group the Kessler Collection are among those that accept Dogecoin payments. But overall, usage is pretty limited.
- What’s the total value of Dogecoins?
As of Tuesday, April 20, aka #DogeDay 2021, about $50 billion. That makes Dogecoin worth more than Walgreens, Ford or Roku, all of which have market capitalizations just shy of $50 billion.
- Should I invest in Dogecoin?
If you want to put a few extra bucks into Dogecoin just for fun, that’s your call. But you should only do so if you don’t have high-interest debt, your emergency fund is healthy, and you regularly contribute to a retirement account, like a 401(k) or Roth IRA.
You could make some cash on Dogecoin, but you could just as easily see the bulk of your money disappear. If Dogecoin buys you entertainment, great. But only invest if you can afford to lose.
