Iconic Composer Dies
Burt Bacharach has died at his Los Angeles home at the age of 94. His publicist Tina Brausam confirmed the death to the New York Times and it was announced on his official Instagram page. Bacharach was the arranger, composer and conductor best known for his work with lyricist Hal David. The two instilled songs with romance, making some of the most classic hits of the ’60s. Some of Bacharach’s best-known work with David are The Carpenter’s No. 1 song, “(They Long to Be) Close to You” in 1970, Dusty Springfield’s “The Look of Love” from the Casino Royale soundtrack in 1967, and several big hits for vocalist Dionne Warwick, who they met at a recording studio during a Drifters session. Bacharach and David started working with her in 1962, first scoring with “Don’t Make Me Over.” Other hits the Bacharach/David/Warwick collaboration yielded were “I Say a Little Prayer” “Walk On By,” “Alfie,” “Anyone Who Had a Heart,” and “Do You Know the Way to San Jose,” several of which were memorably also covered by other artists. Bacharach was born in Kansas City, Mo., on May 12, 1928. His mother was a painter and songwriter who made him take piano lessons, though he was much more drawn to jazz piano than classical in his early years. Bacharach won six Grammy Awards and three Oscars. In 1970, he won for “Raindrops Keep Fallin’ on My Head,” with David, and for Best Original Score for a non-musical motion picture for Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, the 1969 movie that made “Raindrops” a #1 hit for B.J. Thomas.

Britney Spears’ Family Wants An Intervention
Britney Spears’ friends and family planned an intervention for the singer that fell through, sources told TMZ. The singer—who was released from a conservatorship after 13 years in November 2021—was reportedly set to receive medical and psychological treatment in a rented house in the L.A. area, unbeknownst to her, for two months. Her manager had reportedly rented the house and Spears’ husband Sam Asghari, who she married last June, was in on the plan, alongside an interventionist and doctors. Spears has reportedly been struggling with her mental health and not taking the proper meds, sources said. The plan was allegedly set to start Tuesday, but was scrapped after Spears became “somewhat aware” of the situation, sources told TMZ.

Disney Announces Sequels To Their Biggest Movies
Disney is not letting go of prize properties “Frozen” or “Toy Story” anytime soon. Disney CEO Bob Iger said on Wednesday during the company’s earnings call that there are plans for additional sequels to “Frozen” and “Toy Story” in the works. “We’ll have more to share about these productions soon, but this is a great example of how we’re leaning into our unrivaled brands and franchises,” Iger said. The first “Frozen” film hit theaters in 2013 to a massive reception and was followed up with “Frozen 2” in 2019, which grossed over $1.4 billion worldwide at the box office, according to Box Office Mojo. The first installment of the “Toy Story” franchise premiered in 1995, becoming an instant classic. The newly announced sequel will follow “Toy Story 4,” which premiered in theaters in 2019, and continued the franchise’s box office success by earning glowing reviews and grossing over $1 billion. Disney’s Buzz Lightyear spinoff, “Lightyear,” premiered in 2022.
**********Yeah, let’s not talk about that “Lightyear” movie. A little too “woke” to make money!!

T.J. Holmes Says His Reputation Is Ruined
T.J. Holmes is not happy about the way his alleged extramarital affairs have affected his reputation. In fact, sources say that the endless coverage of his various reported affairs at ABC has caused him a great deal of distress. “He’s distraught … completely distraught. He has a daughter. He hates that he’s been painted as this predator,” one source says. He’s has been putting on a brave face, we’re told. “You’d never suspect anything was going on,” said an insider. On Tuesday, the Cut published a piece on “the rampant culture of sex” at ABC News, which included an account of another of Holmes’ alleged conquests among the ranks of network subordinates. A woman, to whom the magazine assigned the pseudonym “Sasha,” confirmed a Page Six story that previously reported she and Holmes would have sex in his office when she was a low-level associate producer working the overnight shift. She told the Cut that she “didn’t even think about power dynamics” at the time because of the alleged lewd culture at the network.
*********His reputation is ruined with some people, but with others?? “You go, bro!!!”
*****This is a scary time for a lot of guys at ABC, because you know.. if HE was doing it.. so were a lot of others!!

Harrison Ford Joins Marvel Universe
Harrison Ford is set to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe as General Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross in the upcoming “Captain America: New World Order.” Ford is replacing the late William Hurt who previously portrayed the character, also known as the Red Hulk. Harrison revealed in a new profile for the Hollywood Reporter why he decided to join the superhero mega-verse after decades in the film business. “I thought, ‘Everybody else seems to be having a great time.’ I watch all these terrific actors having a good time,” Ford explained. He added: “I like doing something different to what I’ve ever done and pleasing people with it. So I’ll try a piece of that.” William Hurt previously portrayed the Red Hulk in several films, starting with “The Incredible Hulk” in 2008, and ending with “Black Widow” in 2021. Hurt passed away in March 2022 at the age of 71.
*********He’s already Indiana Jones and Hans Solo. Does it seem fair that he should get ANOTHER iconic character??
Jeremy Renner Is Recovering Like A “Mofo”
Evangeline Lilly says Jeremy Renner’s recovery from his snowplow accident is nothing short of a “miracle.” She told “Access Hollywood” Tuesday that she saw her longtime friend “the other night” and that he was already “mobile” with the assistance of a wheelchair. “He has recovered like a mofo,” Lilly shared. “I walked in his house and got chicken skin, ’cause I was like, ‘Why are you mobile? Why are you mobile? What’s happening?’” She said she expected to “hold his hand” by his bedside as he “moaned and groaned in pain,” but instead she found him “wheeling himself around, laughing with his friends.” “It’s a miracle, a straight-up miracle,” she said. “He’s made of something really tough, that guy. You’ve always been able to see that in him. He is recovering incredibly, and I’m so grateful.”
********He IS a super-hero!!!!
*****After reading about his injuries, we thought he might lose a leg. Thankfully, that doesn’t seem to be the case!!
*****Current score: Jeremy Renner 1, Snowplow, 0!!!!

Girl Gets Cake Pan Stuck On Head
Firefighters in Pennsylvania conducted an unusual rescue when a 2-year-old girl got her head stuck in an angel food cake pan. Erin Meixel, of Mifflin County, said her daughter, Quinnley, was playing with an angel food pan that had its middle section removed when she put the pan over her head and became stuck. “She wore it kind of like a shawl around her shoulders until the firemen got there. She was a trooper. She was still able to eat and drink while she had this tin around her,” the mother told WGAL-TV. Meixel called 911 and firefighters from the Junction Fire Company in Lewistown were summoned to the home. The firefighters used tin snips to cut through the pan and free the toddler. The fire company shared photos from the unusual rescue on Facebook. See the video HERE.

Parrot Escapes!
A 3-year-old Macaw parrot who became spooked and flew away from his New Zealand home was spotted nine days later — 155 miles away. Hamish and Lulu Peterson said they have raised the parrot, named Pablo, since he was 4 months old, and they trained him as a free-flying bird, allowing him to wander around the community of Russell in the Bay of Islands and respond to whistles from his owners. The couple said Pablo fled the area nine days ago when he was spooked by a neighbor. The Petersons and their son, Kaleb, have now traveled 155 miles to East Auckland after numerous reported Pablo sightings in the area. “There are not that many free-flighted macaws around, so we just looked at each other and said, ‘We’ve got to go,'” Lulu Peterson told One News.

Runaway Raccoon
A raccoon stowed away from Kentucky to Colorado on a truck loaded with pallets and ended up leading animal protection officers on a wild chase around a distribution center. The Boulder Police Department said in a Facebook post that employees at the distribution center saw the raccoon jump off the truck while the load of pallets from Louisville were being unloaded. Workers called for assistance the next day when the raccoon was spotted stuck between some lumber and a wall. Animal Protection Supervisor J. Whittle responded to the scene and the raccoon was freed from its predicament, but was “agitated” and led Whittle and the warehouse workers on a 45-minute chase around the distribution center. “He slid through the catch pole once. I said, ‘I got him! I don’t got him,'” Whittle said in the Facebook post. “That’s when the one employee showed up clutch with the kennel. I grabbed the trash can and the raccoon darted away from that right into the kennel.” See the video HERE.

Pizza Weight Loss!
A personal trainer named Ryan Mercer swears by pizza because it has changed his physical appearance in a positive way. According to a Ladbible report, Mercer ate as many s 10 slices a day, divided between breakfast, lunch and dinner, during a 30-day challenge and ended up with muscles instead of bags of fat. During the challenge, he stopped eating all type of takeaway and junk food in order to prove a point about calorie deficits. The only thing he didn’t cut from his diet was pizzas. Mercer said his main goal was to highlight fat loss by not restricting our favorite food. “I aimed to highlight not only fat loss about calories in and calories out but that it’s also not about restriction. We don’t have to restrict our favorite foods to get results and I also wanted to encourage more people to prepare their own food,” said Mercer. He said that is normal diet includes 7-10 portions of fruit and vegetables and lots of protien. But in the month of January, he had pizza three times a day for 30 days.

Super Bowl 2023: Our favorite game prop bets for Chiefs vs. Eagles
YAHOO SPORTS
The Super Bowl is a betting holiday.
It’s the one game a year when seemingly everyone, from professional bettor to those who need a quick tutorial on what a point spread means, gets some action on the game. It’s the game in which you might get a little crazy, betting on the color of Gatorade dumped on the winning coach or the length of the national anthem. With that in mind we got the Yahoo Sportsbook team together to share our favorite game props (player props will be coming Thursday), with the odds from BetMGM:
Nick Bromberg: I’m intrigued by a field goal as the first scoring play of the game at +155. Five of the last six Super Bowls have had field goals open the scoring and the only game in that span to start with a touchdown had a field goal as the second scoring play of the game. The Chiefs’ two Super Bowl appearances in the past three seasons have each opened with field goals as well. Throw in a couple of teams getting acclimated to the stage and a Chiefs defense that has played well over the past month and I like those odds a lot. If you want to bet a specific team to kick the first field goals, the Chiefs and Eagles are each at +375.
Peter Truszkowski: I like the Eagles to score over 1.5 touchdowns in the first half at +110. This is a Philadelphia team that has consistently gotten off to good starts all year and then protected the lead and took their foot off the gas a bit. I expect both teams to move the ball in this game, and the Chiefs’ defense struggles in the red zone so I think Philadelphia will be able to punch it in rather than settling for field goals. Philadelphia has seven first-half touchdowns through two games in these playoffs, and I’m backing them to find the end zone at least twice in the first half at plus-money. I’m also betting no touchback on the opening kickoff at +130. You can find my reasoning here.
Greg Brainos: I believe there’s a good chance we’re getting a free roll on the Gatorade color this year, so I’m placing 46% of my bet on yellow/green (+275), 43% on orange (+300), and 11% on “no Gatorade poured (+1400).” I’ll also be tailing the opening kickoff prop that Pete wrote about earlier this week.
Sam Cooper: The list of defensive players to win Super Bowl MVP isn’t very long, but it’s hard not to be intrigued by Eagles defensive end Haason Reddick at +3000. He has been one of the best free agent signings in the league, emerging as an elite edge rusher in Philly. He has a whopping 19.5 sacks combined between the regular season and two postseason games. He has 3.5 sacks in the postseason alone and hasn’t had to play very many snaps to do so. He has only been needed for 65 combined postseason snaps, so the rested Reddick could be the game-wrecker the Eagles need to hold off Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs. It was crazy Reddick wasn’t a finalist for Defensive Player of the Year, but I think he’d rather win Super Bowl MVP.
Scott Pianowski: This is going to sound goofy, but when it comes to Super Bowl props, goofy is a jumping-off point. I’ll take the Chiefs at +135 to win the third quarter outright. Kansas City is one of the top scoring teams in the third period (it’s also the most efficient Patrick Mahomes quarter), and that makes sense — Mahomes and Andy Reid get into a flow and react sharply to what they saw in the first half. The Eagles have been average in third-period scoring, and it’s the lowest Jalen Hurts YPA quarter. I suspect Kansas City’s Super Bowl experience is also a tiny bit of an advantage here — they’re used to the absurdly long halftime, the Eagles are not. Hey, at least we’re not betting on the coin flip.
Frank Schwab: There are pages and pages of props you can search through, so you can pick off some obscure ones. Here’s one: BetMGM offers a prop on the length of the game’s first touchdown with a line of 6.5 yards. Thanks to a quick search on Pro Football Reference, we can find that 64 of the 120 touchdowns (53.3 percent) scored by the Chiefs and Eagles were six yards or less. When you think of the offenses, they’re really good near the goal line. The Chiefs were second among NFL teams in touchdown percentage in the red zone and the Eagles were third; when they get close, they cash it in. I’ll bet on the under of 6.5. I’ll also go with no score in the first six minutes, even at -145 odds. Super Bowls often start slow, with some nerves going and both teams feeling the other out. Betting on low-scoring starts is generally going to be profitable in Super Bowls.
Also, don’t knock betting the coin flip, Scott. Take tails.
