Former Bachelor Comes Out
Former Bachelor star Colton Underwood has come out as gay. He went public about his sexuality during Wednesday’s episode of Good Morning America. “Obviously, this year’s been a lot for a lot of people and it’s probably made a lot of people look at themselves in the mirror and figure out who they are,” he told host Robin Roberts. “I’ve ran from myself for a long time, I’ve hated myself for a long time. I’m gay,” he said. “I came to terms with that earlier this year and have been processing it, and the next step in all of this was sort of letting people know.” Underwood said he is now “the happiest and healthiest” he’s ever been in his life after going through a “dark” period where he experienced suicidal thoughts as he struggled with his sexuality. “I got to a place where I didn’t think I would ever share this. I would have rather died than say I’m gay, and I think that was sort of my wakeup call,” he said.

Tom Hanks Son Sued By Ex-Girlfriend
The ex-girlfriend of Hollywood scion Chet Hanks is suing him for $1 million, claiming he physically and verbally abused her during their relationship. Attorneys for Kiana Parker charged that Hanks — the 30-year-old son of Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson — had shown “an ever-escalating pattern of domestic abuse,” as they announced the lawsuit during a press conference in Texas on Tuesday. “This is about violence within the confines of a relationship between a man and a woman, a man who mentally and physically and psychologically battered, Kiana Parker,” lawyer Kevin Murray said. The two began dating in March 2019 and moved in together about a year later, the court documents say. On Oct. 18, 2020, Parker claims Hanks became enraged when she wanted to leave their hotel room in New Orleans, where he was filming for the Showtime series “Your Honor.” Later that night, he allegedly “became aggressive and hostile.” When she tried to leave, Hanks “grabbed her with great force, by her right arm causing instant pain,” the suit alleges. The couple finally agreed to split on Jan. 6, but two days later, when Parker went to move her stuff out of the Sugar Land house, Hanks allegedly “became extremely aggressive.” She claims he came at her with a knife — and that she defended herself by swinging a pot at his head.

Queen Not Giving Up The Throne
Days after losing her husband Prince Philip, Queen Elizabeth II got back to work. On Tuesday, the British monarch attended a retirement ceremony for a senior royal official. The news came from the Court Circular, the official record of royal engagements. “Her family will step up and be by her side, but she will carry on,” the palace source told People magazine on Wednesday. “She understands that she has a job to do, and [Philip] would have wanted her to crack on. She did do so when he retired from public life.” “She will never abdicate because of duty and honor and public service is so deep to her, as it was for him,” another royal insider told the outlet. The royal family is observing two weeks of mourning for the Duke of Edinburgh, who died on Friday at age 99. The palace has said members of the royal family will “undertake engagements appropriate to the circumstances” during the mourning period. Philip’s funeral will take place Saturday at Windsor Castle, with attendance limited to 30 because of coronavirus restrictions.

Reports apparently started circulating in Europe that Jennifer Aniston made a personal announcement to her co-stars during the taping of the “Friends” reunion for HBO Max. The news was supposedly that she’s in the process of adopting a child. However, Aniston’s rep denied the reports to the outlet on Tuesday, calling it a “fabrication.” Her team also told TMZ that any so-called announcement is “false” and “never happened.” In 2017, Aniston had a sharp response to those who have posted false rumors about her having her first child. “I would say, I think the best one would be a picture of me with a hand over my stomach, saying ‘Finally Pregnant!’” she explained to Glamour at the time. Aniston continued: “I mean, it’s like they take a picture of you and create this story. If your body is in a normal moment of having had a bite or two, or you’re having a moment of bloat, then there’s arrows circled around your stomach, telling you that you’re pregnant. Bobby Brown Blames Nick Gordon For Deaths
Bobby Brown believes that Nick Gordon was responsible for not only Bobbi Kristina Brown’s death but also Whitney Houston’s. He said he’s of the opinion that Gordon, who died at age 30 on New Year’s Day 2020 of a heroin overdose, supplied both his late daughter and late ex-wife with the drugs that killed them. “Definitely. Definitely,” Bobby responded when asked on Facebook Watch’s “Red Table Talk” on Wednesday whether he believed Bobbi Kristina’s former fiancé provided the drugs. “He was the only one there with both situations with my ex-wife and my daughter, and they both died the same way.” Both Houston and Bobbi Kristina were discovered unresponsive in bathtubs just three years apart. The “I Will Always Love You” singer died at age 48 in 2012 after drowning while intoxicated on cocaine, while the former couple’s only child together had benzodiazepines and other substances in her system before dying in hospice care in 2015 at age 22. Bobby claimed in Wednesday’s episode of the Facebook Watch series that Gordon was a “provider of party favors” for Houston and Bobbi Kristina. “I think this is my opinion of who I think this young man was being around my daughter and being around my ex-wife,” he said. Bobby further speculated that Gordon’s allegedly abusive and controlling behavior also led to his daughter’s demise. “She unfortunately was stuck in a relationship, an abusive relationship, with a boy that basically controlled her to the point where her life was taken,” he claimed.

You can now live in Mister Rogers former house in Pittsburgh. The Northumberland Street home was listed for sale last week, asking $850,000. Fred Rogers and his wife, Joanne, lived in the 3,700-square-foot century-old brick home in the late 1950s and early 1960s, according to a 1961 alumni newsletter from Rogers’ undergraduate alma mater, Rollins College. Rogers attended Pittsburgh Theological Seminary and worked as a composer, organist and puppeteer on “The Children’s Corner” at WQED during the time he lived there, according to local publication Next Pittsburgh, which first reported the listing. The wholesome home has a large concrete porch with French doors, and in the backyard, a basketball hoop hovers over a driveway leading to a two-car garage, Realtor.com listing photos show.

Woman Cuts Longest Hair
An Indian woman who set the Guinness World Record for the longest hair on a teenager received her first haircut since age 6 and donated the cut hair for display at the Ripley’s Believe It or Not! Museum. Nilanshi Patel, 18, of Modasa, Gujarat, first set the Guinness record for longest hair on a teenager when she was 16 and her hair measured 5 feet, 7 inches long. Her hair was measured just days before her 18th birthday and she broke her own record for the second time with hair measuring 6 feet, 6.7 inches long. “My hair gave me a lot — because of my hair I am known as the ‘real-life Rapunzel,’ now it’s time to give back,” Patel told Guinness officials. Patel said she had considered donating her hair to make wigs for children with cancer, but her mother convinced her that it should go on display to inspire others. Her mother, Kaminiben Patel, said she would donate her own hair to the cancer wig program if her daughter donated it for museum display.

Town Removed From Facebook By Accident
The French town of Ville de Bitche had its official Facebook page removed in what the social media site said was an “error” apparently based on the name’s proximity to an English insult. Ville de Bitche Mayor Benoit Kieffer said the town’s official Facebook page was removed from the site March 19, when officials received a message saying it was “in violation of conditions applying to Facebook pages.” Kieffer said the town attempted to appeal the decision, but never received a response from Facebook. “At first, you wonder, was there a technical problem? However, with the length of time, it can be considered a real censorship,” the mayor told CNN. Facebook said Tuesday morning the town’s page was restored and had been “removed in error.”

Couple Finds Hidden Tunnel Under House
An Illinois couple who moved into their home in December made a surprising discovery while repairing their sidewalk — a 19th-century tunnel underneath the house. Gary and Beth Machens said they moved into their Alton home in December and recently decided to repair a section of sidewalk that had started to slope. Gary Machens said he had to remove part of a stone wall on the sidewalk to make the repairs, and he then discovered the entryway to a tunnel. “He called me at work and said, ‘You better get home; you’re not going to believe what I just found,'” Beth Machens told the Alton Telegraph. The couple said the tunnel is about 9 feet high and at least 60 feet deep. Local historians estimated the tunnel was created in 1840, 50 years before the house was built, but they do not know the original purpose of the underground structure. See the video HERE.

Domino’s Trying Robot Delivery
Domino’s announced it is teaming up with an autonomous vehicle company to offer customers in Houston contact-free delivery via robot. Domino’s said the R2 robot, developed by Nuro, will be delivering pizzas to Houston customers in the Woodland Heights neighborhood who opt-in to the autonomous delivery pilot program. The robot car, which received regulatory approval from the U.S. Department of Transportation last year, will carry pizzas to customer’s homes, and the patrons will receive text messages with updates on the delivery status and a PIN to put into the robot’s touchscreen to receive the orders. “There is still so much for our brand to learn about the autonomous delivery space,” Dennis Maloney, Domino’s senior vice president and chief innovation officer, said in a news release. Domino’s previously experimented with a self-driving Ford Fusion hybrid delivery vehicle in Ann Arbor, Mich., in 2017 and delivery via drone in Britain in 2013. See the video HERE.

4 Reasons We Should Have 4-Day Workweeks, According To Research

- Workers become more productive.
Having too many meetings is the top time-waster employees have cited in surveys. When you have fewer hours in the week to get work done, it can push organizations to streamline processes and give workers permission to make that morning meeting an email.
That’s what happened at The Wanderlust Group, Melillo said. “A lot of folks were using the Monday morning meeting to plan their week and to coordinate… . It pushed people to do more centralized communication and written communication.”
Other businesses that reduced workweeks have reported increased efficiencies, too. Microsoft tested a four-day week without pay decreases in Japan in August 2019, and it led to a 40% improvement in sales per employee compared with the previous summer. The overwhelming majority of employees said they were pleased with the change.
Although not every business that tries a four-day workweek has a change in productivity, a majority do. A 2019 study from the University of Reading found that two-thirds of British businesses that implemented the change reported an increase in staff productivity. A British labor organization has argued for a universal four-day week by pointing out that productivity gains from automation and technology should benefit everyone.
Compressing the workweek can also serve as a learning moment to see where there may be gaps in knowledge and efficiencies. When you ask staff what they can accomplish in four days rather than five, “you learn a lot about how about how your organization operates and runs,” Melillo said, which is why he encourages companies to at least test it out.
- Job listings that advertise four-day workweeks get more applicants.
The flexibility of a shorter workweek is an important benefit that job candidates actively want. Julia Pollak, ZipRecruiter’s labor economist, found that on average, job postings offering a four-day week receive 15% more applications than other postings in the same industries, according to company data from 2018 to now.
“So far this year, four-day workweek job postings have attracted 30% more applications than other job postings in personal care services, 24% more in tourism, 16% more in health care, 10% more in tech, 9% more in education and 4% more in construction,” Pollak said.
According to the University of Reading’s research, 63% of employers in the United Kingdom with a four-day workweek said the benefit has helped them to attract and retain talent.
- When you work less, it can be good for the environment.
Beyond helping out businesses, working less could also help out the Earth. A 2012 analysis from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, argued that working fewer hours is good for the environment.
“Countries with shorter work hours tend to have lower ecological footprints, carbon footprints and carbon dioxide emissions,” the researchers wrote, citing less commuting and a lower need for energy consumption. They estimate that working one less day a week could reduce a carbon footprint by more than 30%.
The energy savings were notable, too. The Microsoft trial in Japan found that by working one day less a week, the office’s electricity use declined by 23% and paper printing decreased by 59%.
- Having more flexibility helps people find work-life balance.
In addition to helping a company’s bottom line, a four-day workweek also has psychological benefits.
In 2018, the New Zealand estate planning advisory firm Perpetual Guardian partnered with academic researchers in Auckland and tracked the effects of paying its 240 workers for 40 hours but having them work four days a week. At the end of the two-month trial, workers reported that they were able to spend more time with their families and were less stressed. Overall, employees reported a 24% improvement in work-life balance. As a result, the company made four-day weeks a permanent option for those who wanted it.
Olivia Hennedy, an employee of The Wanderlust Group brand Dockwa, said that before the switch to a four-day workweek, working from home tired her. The extra day off has actually been an energy boost. “An extra day, whether it’s to get some errands done or to get outside or to rest, has really made my mental health better and has definitely translated into my work,” she said.
With the indefinite COVID-19 pandemic causing employee burnout, time off to rest and recover is more precious than ever. Melillo thinks four-day weeks will become more normal.
“I think in the long run, this is not going to be as crazy as it seems today to be fully remote and have a four-day workweek,” Melillo said. “I think it really comes down to just trust. Do you trust the people that you’re building a company with to make the right decisions? And if you do, I don’t need to babysit you.”
