Meghan Markle On Ellen
Meghan Markle will appear on Today’s (Thursday’s) episode of The Ellen DeGeneres Show. Ellen announced the news Wednesday alongside a clip from Markle’s appearance. In the preview, Markle recalls her early auditions as an actress. Markle confirmed she would audition at the Warner Bros. lot where Ellen is filmed. “The security guards would always say, ‘Break a leg, I hope you get it,'” she says. “They probably said that to everybody because that’s how nice they were.” Markle played Rachel Zane on the USA Network series Suits and had other acting roles before marrying British royal Prince Harry. Markle said she would drive to her auditions in her beat-up Ford Explorer Sport. “At a certain point, the key stopped working on the driver side, so you couldn’t get yourself in through the door. So — after auditions — I would park at the back of the parking lot and I would open the trunk and climb in, and then pull it shut behind me and crawl over all my seats to get out,” she said. “That’s how I would come to and fro.” Her appearance marks Markle’s first interview since the birth of her second child, daughter Lilibet, in June.

Chrissy Teigen is catching some backlash for throwing a party based on Netflix’s immensely popular hit “Squid Game” for her rich Los Angeles friends. She took to her Instagram earlier this week to share that she and husband John Legend had a party themed after the series, complete with people dressing up as the characters and playing high-stakes children’s games. The stars event went as far as to decorate their house to look like set pieces from the show. “Where do I even begin!! what an absolutely epic night. my dream came true of watching my friends fight to the death! dunk tank, musical chairs, hide and seek followed by a very riveting final game of pin the tail on the donkey,” the star wrote on Instagram. However, the general reaction to the party has not been favorable to Teigen, with many slamming the bash as “tone-deaf” given the subject matter at the heart of “Squid Game.” “im sorry rich people are literally so tone deaf. squid game was literally about people whose lives were so awful because of being poor that they’d rather play a game of literal life or death to escape going back to poverty and chrissy teigen is really reenacting it in her mansion,” one critic wrote on Twitter. “Yknow what, I’m tired of being self aware and trying to live a judgment free life. Britney Spears is considering becoming a mother again. She took to Instagram to share her thoughts on expanding her family, posting a black and white photo of a young child standing on their tiptoes. “I’m thinking about having another baby !!! I wonder if this one is a girl,” she captioned the snap. “She’s on her toes reaching for something … that’s for sure !!!” Spears is already mom to two sons: Sean Preston, 16, and Jayden James, 15. She shares them with her ex-husband Kevin Federline. She may have the support of her sister Jamie Lynn Spears, who “liked” the post. The pair’s relationship has previously made headlines as Spears reportedly feels “abandoned” by her sister. In June, Spears implied she was interested in having a child during her bombshell June testimony in court regarding her conservatorship, which she said was being used to block her from starting a family with her now-fiancé Sam Asghari. “I would like to progressively move forward, and I want to have the real deal. I want to be able to get married and have a baby,” she said at the time. “I was told right now in the conservatorship, I’m not able to get married or have a baby.”

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have no plans to jet back to the UK for the holidays — despite the fact that it will be Queen Elizabeth II’s first Christmas without her husband, Prince Phillip, who died in April. Not to mention that she has had concerning health problems of late. An invitation has been extended to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex to join the rest of the royal family at Sandringham for Christmas, but they will not be attending, say multiple royal sources. “There’s a lot that goes into the logistics and the planning of the family Christmas, so of course, staff know that Harry and Meghan are not coming,” one royal source told Page Six. “If they were, they would have communicated it to their family by now. “But this is Her Majesty’s first Christmas without her husband, so one would have hoped they would want to be with her.” It’s believed that Harry and Meghan don’t want to cause the inevitable headlines that would come if they did fly over from their new home in Montecito, Calif. “I think everyone understands there will be a frenzy when they both come back to the UK, but they need to rip the [Band-Aid] off and get on with it.” the source added. The Queen is usually joined at Sandringham, her country estate, by family including Prince Charles, Camilla Parker-Bowles, Prince William and wife Kate Middleton, who accompany her to a church service.

Runaway Roadrunner
Animal rescuers in Maine said a man unloading his moving van after the drive from Las Vegas discovered an unexpected stowaway — a roadrunner. The Avian Haven animal hospital in Freedom said in a Facebook post that a man named Gary contacted the facility when he and his son, Brian, opened the back of their moving truck at a storage facility in Westbrook and discovered a roadrunner apparently had stowed away in the vehicle before they left Las Vegas. Volunteer Karen Silverman was dispatched to the scene and helped the father and son capture the bird. “Shortly after Karen arrived, Brian discovered the bird hiding in a front storage area of the van. He flushed the roadrunner out into the back of the vehicle, where Karen handily netted the bird,” the Facebook post said. The roadrunner was taken to an Avian Haven facility, where it was examined. “The roadrunner was in remarkably good shape for having been confined in the van for four days, leading us to wonder if perhaps some food items had also stowed away,” the group said.

Socks Record
A California charity collected about 80,000 socks for the homeless and broke a Guinness World Record for the longest line of socks. The Fresno Mission said volunteers and staff aimed to create a line of socks stretching at least 7 miles. “We looked around, like, ‘Hey, we’re lacking certain things and one of them was socks, which is really a tool for us so, we said, ‘Hey what if we did a sock drive? And hey what if we did something really cool and break the world record?'” Fresno Mission CEO Matthew Dildine told KFSN-TV. The mission collected socks for about six months before putting the estimated 80,000 socks onto a clothes line that ended up covering a total distance of 7.39 miles. The current record listed by Guinness is 3.77 miles, and was assembled in Halverde, Germany, in 2014. See the video HERE.

Multiple Fruits From One Tree
An Australia gardener earned a Guinness World Record when he successfully grafted five different types of fruit onto a single tree. Hussam Saraf of Shepparton, Victoria, said he actually grafted 10 different fruits onto the tree in his back yard, but Guinness World Records told him not all of them counted as different types. Saraf’s tree bears white and yellow nectarines, white and yellow peaches, blood and yellow plums, peachcots, apricots, almonds and cherries. “They told me my application was rejected, because they needed five different species, not varieties,” Saraf told Guardian Australia. Guinness initially told Saraf he had merely tied the record of five fruits, which was set by Luis H. Carrasco of Chile, but a further review found two of Carrasco’s fruits — peaches and nectarines — only counted as a single species, reducing his number to four and giving the new record to Saraf.

Naked Man Rescued From Bathroom Wall
Firefighters in upstate New York on Friday rescued a naked man who was stuck for several days inside the bathroom wall of a theater, fire officials said. The Syracuse Fire Department responded just after 7:30 a.m. to the Landmark Theatre after employees heard someone banging of the wall and yelling for help, the department said in a Facebook post. The adult male, who was not immediately identified, was believed to have entered the theatre two or three days ago, fire officials said. It was not immediately clear how he was able to get behind the wall, according to the department. Firefighters with Rescue Company 1 drilled a hole in the wall and used a fiber-optic camera to find the man’s exact location in the wall, the department said. After determining the best way to extract the man, officials said firefighters carefully cut through several layers of drywall and structural clay tile to reach him.

High-Sodium Foods
“It’s super common for dehydration to set in when flying, thanks to the lack of humidity and dry air in the cabin,” Beckerman said. “That’s why it’s not the smartest to have a sodium-laden meal the day before or morning of your flight.”
Beckerman advised going easy on the salt shaker, opting for snacks without added salt and consuming more fresh foods to avoid dehydration-related headaches, constipation and fatigue.
“In general, because of pressure shifts, some people retain water during a flight, so something overly processed or too high in sodium might exacerbate this issue,” said Vanessa Rissetto, a registered dietitian in New Jersey and co-founder of Culina Health. “Best to stay hydrated, try some electrolyte tabs or coconut water to help with hydrations and try whole foods like veggies and fruit, or lean protein to help you feel your best.”
Carbonated Beverages
“Because flying may cause some folks to feel bloated or extra gassy, thanks to the changes in cabin pressure, it’s wise to avoid anything with carbonation beforehand, like seltzers, sodas or kombucha,” Beckerman said.
She noted that these bubbly beverages can worsen digestive air pockets, causing you to feel “extra belchy, bloated or gassy” during your flight.
“By steering clear of them, you can keep extra air and bubbles to a minimum in your digestive system,” Beckerman said.
Jonathan Valdez, owner of Genki Nutrition and media spokesperson for the New York State Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, offered similar advice. He noted that carbonated beverages can expand inside your GI tract and lead to more unpleasant bloating if you are already gassy.
“However, if you’re feeling nauseous because of motion sickness or turbulence, carbonated drinks can be helpful,” Valdez added. “You have to weigh the pros and cons.”
Alcohol
“Alcohol consumption tends to cause dehydration and has a different effect on the body than if you were to have a drink at ground level due to the low barometric pressure in the cabin and the low oxygen concentration in blood,” Valdez said. “Therefore you are more likely to get inebriated faster and urinate frequently.”
Beyond personal health and comfort, laying off the alcohol can help foster a safe airplane environment. Sara Nelson, president of the Association of Flight Attendants-CWA, previously told HuffPost that many of the most outrageous incidents of flight attendant abuse “include alcohol as a contributing factor.”
Gassy Foods
“Certain foods such as onions, asparagus, beans, cabbage, cauliflower and Brussels sprouts can contribute to intestinal gas and bloating because we do not have the necessary enzymes to digest certain carbohydrates known as FODMAPs found in these foods,” Valdez said.
“This, along with a gas expansion that happens inside your stomach and intestines during flight elevation, can lead to uncomfortable gas and flatulence,” he added.
Indeed, We all know beans tend to make you gassy, but cruciferous vegetables like cabbage, cauliflower, broccoli and kale tend to take longer for the body to digest, which also can lead to bloating and gas. So, you may want to stick to veggies like spinach or zucchini on flight days.
Coffee
“A cup of joe can leave you dehydrated in an already dry environment,” Valdez said, adding that coffee also has a mild diuretic effect, which can lead to more frequent trips to the bathroom.
Beyond the dehydrating effects, caffeine can also keep you awake during a flight, which is often an opportunity to catch up on sleep. The need for more frequent bathroom visits can also interfere with your ability to doze during your travels.
Over-Processed Snacks
If you have a sensitive stomach, you might want to steer clear of foods that can mess with your digestion. That includes highly processed snacks like candy and fast food, which often contain ingredients that could unsettle your digestive system.
“If you’re a nervous flyer who experiences GI disturbances while on a flight, I would be sure to stay away from things that are over-processed,” Rissetto said. “Maybe some toast and avocado for fullness, or a small piece of fruit that would help for me to feel full but not upset my stomach.”
Basically, if you’re hoping to reduce your risk of any physical discomfort, try to keep it simple with your flight day eats.
As Valdez said: “A balanced meal that satisfies your thirst with water and hydrating fruits contains moderate amounts of complex carbohydrates and lean protein, and low in added sugars and sodium is ideal.”
