Taylor Swift “Shakes Off” Copyright Lawsuit
Taylor Swift and her legal team hit back in a copyright lawsuit in which she is accused of stealing lyrics for her hit song, “Shake It Off.” Sean Hall and Nathan Butler, who wrote 3LW’s 2000 song “Playas Gon’ Play,” are accusing the superstar of using their words. A Monday court filing insisted that Swift wrote 2014’s “Shake It Off” by herself, while her attorney accused Hall and Butler of trying to cash in on the song’s astronomical success. “The lyrics to Shake It Off were written entirely by me,” Swift said in a declaration, as reported by The Guardian. “Until learning about Plaintiffs’ claim in 2017, I had never heard the song Playas Gon’ Play and had never heard of that song or the group 3LW.” Swift claimed that she was just 11 when “Playas Gon’ Play,” was released, and that she was not allowed to watch MTV’s “Total Request Live” music video countdown show until she was “about 13 years old.” Backing this up, Swift’s mother Andrea Swift filed an accompanying statement in which she said that she kept a close watch over the media her daughter was exposed to at home.

Serena Williams To Quit Tennis
Serena Williams announced in her September 2022 Vogue cover story published Tuesday that she will be retiring from the sport after the U.S. Open to focus on building her family. She and her husband, Alexis Ohanian, already share 4-year-old daughter Olympia. “These days, if I have to choose between building my tennis résumé and building my family, I choose the latter,” she wrote in a personal essay. Williams, who is not yet pregnant with their second child, wrote that she is looking to have another baby — but only after her athlete days are behind her. “In the last year, Alexis and I have been trying to have another child, and we recently got some information from my doctor that put my mind at ease and made me feel that whenever we’re ready, we can add to our family,” she explained. “I definitely don’t want to be pregnant again as an athlete. I need to be two feet into tennis or two feet out.”

Pete Davidson Is In “Trauma Therapy”
Pete Davidson has been in “trauma therapy” largely due to Kanye West’s attacks on social media. Beginning in April, he has been seeking help following his feud with the rapper for dating his ex-wife, Kim Kardashian. “The attention and negativity coming from Kanye and his antics is a trigger for [Pete], and he’s had to seek out help,” an insider told People, who first reported the story, Monday. The source stressed that, despite calling it quits last week, Davidson “has no regrets for dating Kim and wants it to be made very clear that she’s been nothing but supportive of him throughout their relationship.” Kanye has continuously criticized Pete — who he dubbed Skete — ever since he was first linked to Kardashian in October 2021. Earlier this year, West released a video for “Eazy” that had him literally kidnapping and burying a cartoon version of Davidson. He also rapped about “beating Pete Davidson’s ass.” West also attacked Davidson in a second video for the same tune, this time while the actor wore a “Skete” hoodie.
*******He probably needs trauma therapy after he looks in the mirror!!
****He’s the one who sent Kanye pictures of him in bed with his wife!!

Tiny Dancer Remake Confirmed
Two weeks after Variety reported that Britney Spears and Elton John were working up a brand-new recording of John’s 1971 song, “Tiny Dancer,” the remake has been confirmed: Reps for both artists sent out an announcement Monday confirmed that the song, “Hold Me Closer,” is due in the coming days. There was little information in the announcement except single artwork, which consists of the title, a rose (Britney) and a rocket (Elton). According to reports last month, Spears met with John in mid-July in a Beverly Hills recording studio for a new version of the song. Grammy-winning producer Andrew Watt, who has worked with everyone from Miley Cyrus and Justin Bieber to Pearl Jam and Ozzy Osbourne, was reported to be overseeing the session. The collaboration would mark Spears’ first return to making music since her conservatorship was terminated in November 2021.

Peacock Caught
Animal rescuers in Iowa said they have successfully captured a peacock that was on the loose for multiple days in a residential neighborhood. Residents of the Merle Hay neighborhood in Des Moines said the peacock was first spotted more than 30 feet up in a tree Wednesday in Jordan Stenger’s front yard. “When I first saw it I couldn’t get a very good look at it,” Stenger told the Des Moines Register. “You could tell that it wasn’t like a hawk or like another big bird. He just kind of stayed still for a long time. He had its neck back, like, resting on his body.” The peacock was spotted again on Thursday, moving from trees to rooftops to yards in the neighborhood. The Animal Rescue League of Iowa said the peacock was successfully captured Saturday night. Officials said the bird, named Jimmy, will hopefully be returned to his owners, although keeping peacocks as pets is not legal inside the city.

Someone Studied Sleep Habits Of A Spider!
Daniela Roessler and her colleagues trained cameras on baby jumping spiders at night to find out if they sleep. The footage showed patterns that looked a lot like sleep cycles: The spiders’ legs twitched and parts of their eyes flickered. The researchers described this pattern as a “REM sleep-like state.” In humans, REM, or rapid eye movement, is an active phase of sleep when parts of the brain light up with activity and is closely linked with dreaming. Other animals, including some birds and mammals, have been shown to experience REM sleep. But creatures like the jumping spider haven’t gotten as much attention so it wasn’t known if they got the same kind of sleep, said Roessler, an evolutionary biologist at the University of Konstanz in Germany. Their findings were published Monday in the journal Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences.

Florida Man Attacked By Alligator
An alligator bit a man’s face while he was swimming in a lake near Tampa. It happened last Thursday at Lake Thonotosassa which is in Hillsborough County. Fire rescue took the 34-year-old man to the hospital after the alligator bit his face, according to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission which dispatched a contracted trapper to the lake and is continuing to investigate the incident. Around 1.3 million alligators live in Florida, in all 67 counties, according to the FWC. The agency recommends people stay away from alligators and avoid handling or feeding them. Nuisance alligators — those that are 4 feet or longer and believed to pose a threat to people, their pets, or property — are trapped and killed by the agency through its statewide Nuisance Alligator Program. A total of 9,442 nuisance alligators were killed in 2021, according to the FWC.

4 ‘Micro-Transitions’ In Your Day That May Be Causing You Anxiety
HUFFINGTON POST
Sunset
Dark thoughts like to show their ugly faces at night, Temple said, so the sun going down or similar evening-related transitions can trigger anxiety.
There are a few theories on why this happens. One study found that sleep disruption can be caused by an inability to control emotionally negative information at night. Some psychologists blame our caveman-esque brains, which used to scan for danger before bed in hunter-gatherer times. Additionally, our brains’ active “negativity bias” ― where our minds subconsciously focus on bad news over good news ― can be at play. At night, we can reminisce on various negative events that occurred during the day.
The End Of A Fun Event
Maybe you’ve spent weeks preparing for your upcoming vacation with family, only to obsess over your last day as the end of your trip is approaching.
Temple said this can be caused by having a great time and not wanting it to end, or conversely, having high expectations and feeling like whatever happened wasn’t as fun as you wanted it to be.
“So therefore, there’s a sense of dread or let down,” he said. These emotions can materialize as anxiety that you wouldn’t have felt otherwise.
‘Audience’ Transitions
Do you change how you are parenting when your partner leaves the room and your mother-in-law walks in? Maybe you are stricter, or more laid-back.
Either way, Dr. Whitney Casares, a private practice pediatrician and founder and CEO of the Modern Mamas Club, said that an “audience change” can be a micro-transition that causes anxiety. This can also show up as “putting on a good face” at a party when you aren’t up for it, or feeling like you can’t be your true self around certain peers.
Conflicting Obligations
If you have a Zoom call coming up, and you know your kid will be waking from a nap at the same time or that a repair person is about to arrive, you might feel pulled in two directions at once. Or maybe it’s a slightly bigger scenario: Say you’ve committed to a distant relative’s wedding and you get an invitation in the mail for your friend’s wedding the same weekend.
Dreading this inability to balance obligations or responsibilities can lead to some anxiety around those micro-transitions, Casares explained. Anticipating or worrying about issues that may come up can cause your body to go into fight-or-flight mode.
