SATC Co-Stars React to Chris Noth Allegations
Sex and the City stars Sarah Jessica Parker, Cynthia Nixon and Kristin Davis have responded to the sexual assault allegations facing their co-star Chris Noth. “We are deeply saddened to hear the allegations against Chris Noth. We support the women who have come forward and shared their painful experiences,” the trio each said recently on their Instagram Stories. “We know it must be a very difficult thing to do and we commend them for it,” the statement continued. Parker, Nixon and Davis each star together in HBO Max’s And Just Like That, which acts as a sequel to Sex and the City. Noth’s And Just Like That and Sex and the City character Mr. Big died in the first episode. Noth is accused of sexually assaulting two women on separate occasions in 2004 and 2015. The women, who went by the pseudonyms Zoe and Lilly, detailed their experiences with Noth in an article published by The Hollywood Reporter. Noth has denied the allegations. The allegations led to Peloton removing its ad featuring Noth reprising his role as Mr. Big. The commercial poked fun at the character dying in the first episode of And Just Like That. He has also been fired from CBS’ The Equalizer, where he portrayed ex-CIA director William Bishop. The show’s next episode, which is already filmed, will be Noth’s last.

Is Lorne Michaels Getting Ready To Retire?
Longtime “Saturday Night Live” boss, Lorne Michaels, is thinking ahead to when he might ultimately retire from his position at the show. Michaels has been the co-creator and lead producer of the series since it got its start in the 1970s. He left his duties in 1980 only to return five years later, where he’s been at the helm of the popular late-night sketch series ever since. However, at 77-years-old, he’s looking ahead to the future and the end of his run once again. “You know, I think I’m committed to doing this show until its 50th anniversary, which is in three years,” he told “CBS Mornings” in a recent interview. “I’d like to see that through, and I have a feeling that’d be a really good time to leave. But … I won’t want the show ever to be bad. I care too deeply about it. It’s been my life’s work. So I’m going to do everything I can to see it carry on.” It seems that Michaels is eyeing a departure some time in 2024-2025. Fortunately for fans of the comedy sketch show, Michaels noted that his departure from the show doesn’t mean that “SNL” will end. He’s very much of the mindset that someone will take over for him and usher the show into a new era.

McDonald’s Hands Out Mariah Merch
Fans are flying into a frenzy after McDonald’s announced it will give away 10,000 Mariah Carey T-shirts Tuesday as part of a promotional partnership with the pop diva. The fast-food franchise joined forces with the “Queen of Christmas” earlier this month to create the “McDonald’s Mariah Menu,” which features 12 days of free food deals for the festive season. On Tuesday morning, participating restaurants started giving out the “McDonalds x Mariah” shirts to the first 10,000 customers who ordered a Sausage McMuffin with Egg on the franchise’s mobile app. The black shirt only comes in one size (large) and features an image of Carey chowing down on a McDonald’s meal. The shirts will be shipped to the eligible recipients in February, meaning Mimi fans won’t be getting into any fist fights at McDonald’s restaurants in order to secure limited-edition merchandise. McDonald’s released instructions on their website telling fans how to potentially secure the shirt. “After redeeming the deal, if there are still merch items remaining, you will be shown a redemption screen,” they instructed. “You must select ‘Get It Now’ to redeem the merchandise deal immediately by providing your name and shipping information. Once you exit from the merch redemption flow, you will not be able to access it again.” Some fans woke up at 4 a.m. to order their Sausage McMuffin with Egg in the hopes of securing a shirt. Meanwhile, one verified Twitter user already managed to get their hands on one of the rare tees, sparking a storm on social media. “I can’t stress how badly I NEED that shirt,” one fan replied. Others weren’t so lucky, complaining that their app had crashed, leaving them ineligible to redeem the T-shirt.

Pete Davidson Walk Of Shames Out Of Kim K’s Hotel
Pete Davidson was spotted leaving Kim Kardashian’s New York City hotel on Monday after reportedly “spending the night,” the Daily Mail reported. He exited the Four Seasons Hotel in the Financial District with an over-the-top grin on his face as he made his way to an SUV flanked by security. Dressed casually in a fleece, T-shirt and sweatpants, Davidson also rocked a Christmas-appropriate red manicure and Rolex watch. It comes after he spent the weekend with Kim and Scott Disick on Staten Island. The couple and the third wheel caught a screening of “House of Gucci” at Davidson’s local theater and grabbed a bite to eat at Angelina’s Ristorante, where they posed for a photo with the owner. Davidson chose to spend time with Kardashian over the weekend instead of appearing on “SNL” as it faced an unprecedented COVID-19 outbreak.

Proposal During White House Tour
A Chicago-area couple’s visit to the White House became extra memorable when the man conspired with White House staff to propose during the tour. Michael Sayre of Mundelein said he and his girlfriend, Jennifer Jafari, were planning to take a tour of the White House with his 9-year-old twins, Jocelyn and Wesley, during their visit to Washington, D.C., last week, so he contacted White House staff in the hopes of making a proposal plan. “I was planning on proposing to Jennifer over the Christmas holiday and I thought, ‘Well, I’m at the White House. Why not see if I can make it work,'” Sayre told WLS-TV. The staffers and Sayre’s twins helped form the plan and Sayre dropped to one knee in the White House’s family dining room. “Because the theme of that room is family, and they just go through and talk about how families are different. You have the family you’re born into, the family you choose, the family that you make, so I just thought that theme was perfect,” Sayre said. See the video HERE.

Gift Wrap Record
A pair of Idaho neighbors captured a festive Guinness World Record when they covered an entire boy in gift wrap in 1 minute, 43 seconds. David Rush, who has broken more than 200 Guinness records to promote STEM education, teamed up with neighbor Lisa Marie Hannon to cover Hannon’s son, Joey, in wrapping paper. Rush said Guinness rules required Joey to be covered head to toe in gift wrap with his arms and legs wrapped individually. The rules also required the wrapping to be completed without any of the paper tearing. “People aren’t boxes and conforming the paper to the angles of the body without ripping the paper is a serious challenge,” Rush said. The neighbors managed to finish their wrapping in 1 minute, 43 seconds, beating the previous record of 1 minute, 58.9 seconds, which was set by YouTube team Dude Perfect. See the video HERE.

Florida Man Banned For Underwear Mask
A Florida man has been banned from flying with United Airlines after attempting to wear a pair of thong underwear over his face instead of a mask. The passenger now tells WFLA he’s attempted this same stunt about 20 times before. Video of the incident, which started making the rounds on social media this week, shows two flight attendants talking to Adam Jenne, who had been wearing the garment to cover his nose and mouth while he waited for his flight to take off from Fort Lauderdale to Washington, D.C. One of the flight attendants can be heard telling Jenne he’s “not in mask compliance.” “You’re going to have to come off the airplane. We’re not going to let you travel,” the flight attendant tells Jenne. After Jenne exits the aircraft, another passenger — whose mask is seen hanging off his face — approaches a different flight attendant and demands to know why Jenne was removed. He, too, leaves the plane after the flight attendant asks him to place his mask over his nose and mouth. “I’m out of here,” the passenger says.

You Can’t Deliver Pizza To A Castle
Pizza chain Domino’s has pleaded with fans to stop ordering food to the I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! castle. The company posted a warning on its social media page after its branch in Rhyl, North Wales, received “numerous” orders to Gwrych Castle addressed to the 2021 campmates. “Yes, we know the campmates deserve something tasty after all the Bushtucker Trials, but please stop ordering pizzas to the castle,” it said. “We can’t get through the gates so your favorite celebrities aren’t getting a pizza the action.” The production crew working on the show have been receiving and eating the food instead. In video footage, a member of the crew can be heard saying “Who keeps ordering these?” as a delivery driver hands over four boxes addressed to Naughty Boy. Naughty Boy was the fourth celebrity to be voted out of the series on Wednesday, with a “massive mystery order of pizzas received at the store” straight after his eviction. Dominos said: “Sadly, the pizzas never make it into the hungry hands of Naughty Boy or other camp mates with the show’s organizers accepting it for the production crew to enjoy.”

5 Surprising Causes Of Injuries During The Holidays
HUFFINGTON POST
Bone and muscle pain from holiday decorating
There are an estimated 160 decorating-related injuries per day around the holidays, and half of those incidents involve falls, according to data from the CPSC.
Barbara Bergin, an orthopedic surgeon at Texas Orthopedics in Austin, said even simply decorating a tree can have people coming into her office six to nine months after the holidays, which is the average time that an orthopedic injury takes to heal. This is because the motion of reaching up, common while decorating, can lead to rotator cuff injuries, especially in older people.
“We have physical liabilities that could be genetic or the result of old injuries, but everybody is walking around with the potential to tear their rotator cuff after about 50 or 60,” she said. “People are putting ornaments on trees, reaching up into closets to get decorations down.”
She recommended getting a very safe step stool with “nice, fat steps” to ensure you aren’t standing on something unsafe while decorating. If you need to use a ladder, make sure it’s stable and keep someone around to monitor you.
Fires caused by Christmas trees, lights or candles
The holidays mean an abundance of beautiful, shining decorations, from candles to Christmas tree lights ― and an increased risk of fire.
Alex Forte, a fire safety merchant for The Home Depot in Atlanta, said this is often due to unattended flames and placing combustibles like a Christmas tree too close to a heat source. According to the National Fire Protection Association, 1 in 5 Christmas tree fires are caused by decorative lights. In December, an estimated 45% of home decoration fires are from candles, up from 35% the rest of the year.
To prevent one of these fires, don’t leave candles unattended, or near anything else that can catch flame. “Add water to your tree stand every day,” Forte said. “As Christmas trees dry out, they become more and more flammable.”
Heart attacks
Holiday-related events can sometimes cause undue stress on the heart, according to Lara Goitein, a pulmonary and critical care physician and founding medical director of clinician-directed performance improvement at Christus St. Vincent Regional Medical Center in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Goitein said heart attack rates from Dec. 25-27 are higher than at any other time of year.
“Family stress, big salty meals, and unusual physical activity … can precipitate heart attacks, heart failure and other problems,” she explained.
To prevent heart problems this holiday season, know your personal limits when it comes to physical activity, she said. The American Heart Association also recommends avoiding vigorous outdoor activities in extremely cold temperatures to protect your heart.
Most importantly, don’t ignore symptoms of a serious illness for the sake of not interrupting a holiday celebration. Chest pain, shortness of breath, heart palpitations, leg swelling or stroke symptoms like weakness or slurring speech are all emergencies.
Fires from holiday cooking
More kitchen use and elaborate meals may mean more fires. Thanksgiving is the top day for home cooking fires, followed by Christmas Day and Christmas Eve, according National Fire Protection Association data.
“Never leave a hot cooking surface operating unattended, and keep a fire extinguisher in the kitchen,” Forte said. “Move wooden utensils, dish towels, cookbooks and other combustible materials away from the stove.”
Choking or other issues from toys
Sometimes well-intentioned gifts turn into harmful objects. CPSC data from 2020 shows there were nearly 150,000 toy-related injuries treated in emergency departments, and nine deaths in kids 14 and younger. Most of the deaths were attributed to choking on small toy parts. It’s also important to watch for accidental battery consumption with new toys around small children.
To avoid faulty or dangerous toys, buy from stores or retailers you know and trust and look for a certification mark from an independent testing organization.
Don’t wait to get help, even if it’s a holiday in a pandemic
Even before the pandemic, the idea of getting prompt medical attention from understaffed hospitals during the holidays could seem almost impossible. Goitein said this is a valid concern, but not one that should stop you from seeking help quickly.
“Emergency room and hospital visits tend to fall during the holidays, but are then followed by a large [burst] of patients arriving in subsequent days,” she said.
Don’t wait to seek help, especially if you are experiencing life-threatening symptoms.
“If you need care, be persistent,” Goitein said. “If you can’t reach your doctor, ask to speak to the doctor on call. Use urgent care facilities if needed, and in the worst-case scenario, the emergency room.”
